In the fall of 2017, the media began to speculate that Kylie Jenner, the youngest of the Kardashian and Jenner sisters, was pregnant with her first child. Throughout the pregnancy, close family members and friends of Kylie Jenner either denied or ignored the question; Is Kylie Jenner pregnant? Ever since, people have been giving their opinion and theories about the pregnancy; some even went and said that Kylie Jenner could have been the surrogate for her older sister Kimberly Kardashian. However, Feb. 4 was the day that put a halt to all of the  rumors since Kylie Jenner finally revealed that she did in fact giver birth to her daughter, Stormi Webster.

After hearing that Kylie Jenner did give birth to her daughter, Emiliano Salomon, 12, remembers the conspiracy theory videos that he viewed which did mention Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy.

“Sometimes when I would watch conspiracy theory videos, such as the videos created by Shane Dawson, I was never surprised when topics such as celebrity’s personal life was talked about, especially Kylie Jenner,” Solomon said. “I had a feeling that she was pregnant, but it was just crazy how the media took this one topic and tried to make something more out of it.”

Others like Salomon did notice a shift in the media when the rumors of Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy surfaced. Since photos of Kylie Jenner’s baby bump were rare, the tabloids were more than ready to publish one under their name when the chance came. Smaller companies such as YouTube channels did use Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy as  “clickbait”, mentioning only her pregnancy to get a higher viewer count.

On the other hand, people like Hannah Hong, 9, were concerned with the fact that Kylie Jenner was pregnant at such an early stage in her life.

“Even though she is an adult, Kylie Jenner is probably one of the busiest sisters from the Kardashian/ Jenner clan. She runs a makeup company that changed the game for most of the senior companies such as MAC,” Hong said.

It shows that Hong is concerned for Kylie Jenner. It was revealed in her reality TV show, Life of Kylie, that her life is most of the time overwhelmed with busy schedules. Due to this, her pregnancy may seem irrationale to some followers.

However, fans like Katia Contreras, 12, were excited to hear about the pregnancy.

“I believe that being able to go through a process such as a pregnancy is a blessing. It does not matter what the media, and other people think about it,” Contreras said. “Maybe Kylie needed to fill a void in her life that only Stormi could fill. And if that is that then, I’m happy for her, but it all honestly could not have been done without the help of her friends.”

Other fans such as Contreras have a genuine excitement for Kylie Jenner. Since Kylie Jenner is a public figure, her fans will be there with her throughout the raisings of Stormi Webster. Fans have as well been congratulating Jenner’s friends and family as well for being able to have kept the secret for so long.

In all, Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy did cause a effect in media; however 2018 is the year that Jenner came to be known as the socialite, makeup mogul, and now mother.
