The Downey Legend’s Co-Photo Editor Alisson Naranjo, 12, looks most forward to guiding the team of photographers in the right direction to their full potential. She hopes to leave next year’s staff with an outstanding group of photographers who are ready to lead the incoming photographers to success and help maintain a diligent newspaper staff. “Newspaper has definitely strengthened my communication skills,” Naranjo stated. “It has allowed me to experience opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to get without it.” She also stated how it has definitely helped her with time management skills, and she hopes to use what she’s learned to prepare for college. For college, she aims to attend a 4-year, and earn her Psy.D. Naranjo would describe herself as ambitious, intelligent, and intellectual. Outside of the classroom, she likes to read, take photos, and go on walks.
Amanda Rubio, Videographer
Amanda Rubio, 12, returns for her second year at The Downey Legend as a videographer. Rubio is passionate about videography, film, and everything to do behind a camera. In the future, Rubio plans to put her passion into action and major in film at her dream school NYU. One of Rubios’ goals is to one day open a producing company/agency and become a director or executive producer, specifically, directing/producing action films. Rubio's love for videography, film, and photography allows her to express her creativity through editing clips during her free time. Rubio’s great sense of humor along with her caring personality and creativity, make up to form a huge asset to the newspaper. “I am a videographer again this year but I am so excited to try and venture out into fundraising and photography,” says Rubio. “I am also excited to join many new clubs this year like the ASL club.”
