About the Contributors
Isabella Gomez, Photographer
Joining the Downey Legend is Isabella Gomez, 12. As a first year member of the Downey Legend, Gomez is excited to begin her adventure as a photographer. Gomez enjoys reading through her collection of books, playing video games with friends and family, and working on other “one week obsessions”. Gomez also enjoys carrying for her family of pets, consisting of three dogs, five cats, and one bunny. As for academics, Gomez is enthralled in engineering and sees it as her calling. Gomez aspires to become an architectural engineer, and has contributed to her passion by taking and adjusting well to more difficult classes. She also is involved in Femineers, a club focused on Engineering, where she has applied to join their leadership as Vice President. Her goals involving education are attending UC San Diego or Cal State San Diego in her major of choice, Architectural Engineering. In the future, she wishes to take her mom to Paris on vacation, work as an Architectural Engineer or teach it, and buy a home before home prices rise too high.
“There was a lot of areas that you can be an engineer, and I found out about Architectural Engineering… it just, like, I feel like it called to me.” Gomez stated, “When I learned about it, I was like, yeah, yeah, that’s what I want to do when I’m older.”
Cristina Rhinelander, Writer
First-year Cristina Rhinelander, 17, joins the Downey Legend as a Writer. She has a burning passion for helping others. After high school, Rhinelander plans to study psychology at a community college. She is already aligning her academic career with her dream of becoming a Therapist. Interestingly, Rhinelander spends her free time reading, writing video games, or socializing with her friends. When asked what movie describes her life, she responded “Little Woman because I feel like I was trying to please others for a while, but I think eventually realized I need to start doing things for myself.” She’s an amazing person who seeks to help those around her out of the goodness of her heart.
“I've seen a lot of the help Therapy could do, especially for my parents and I want to spread that”
