Itzel Cabrales, Writer
Coming into her first-year of newspaper, Itzel Cabrales, grade 10, is ready to face the new challenges to come. Despite COVID-19 and the obstacles that it brings, Cabrales has decided to break out of her comfort zone and become a writer for Downey High newspaper, The Downey Legend. As someone who is constantly getting ready for the real world as a sophomore, she finds it easy to get an escape from reality by baking. It helps her get her head back in the game, and her friends find it as another detail to add to motherly nature. Although Cabrales says she has a kind personality she still feels that she is a very introverted person, with very few extroverted tendencies. Cabrales feels very comfortable being in her bubble as the quiet person that she is. During quarantine though Cabrales felt that if she wants to achieve her goals, she can’t always be in her box. She wants to be more outgoing and feels like writing helps her do that.
“Writing is easy for me.” Cabrales says, “it’s easier to express yourself in words.”
