Sandra Echavarria, Photographer
As a first year photographer for The Downey Legend, Sandra Echavarria, 12, wants to expand her expertise and passion for photography. While Echavarria excels in photography, she wants to major in accounting with a minor of photography at one of the worlds most prestigious ivy league schools, Harvard. Other than being an overachiever scholar, Echavarria spends her time reading romance novels and going to work at an event center. She is very quiet, but very friendly at the same time if you take the time to get to know her. Echavarria will never fail to make you smile and will always make you feel welcomed and important.
“At first I was obsessed with capturing life in the moment,” Echavarria stated. “And I think overtime it became an outlet for me and that's why I pursued photography.”
Denise Rodriguez, Photographer
After gaining some photography experience during her junior year, Denise Rodriguez, 12, is thrilled to show her skills for this year's Downey Legend Newspaper. Outside of school, Rodriguez loves to spend her time with hobbies such as baking and exercising, as a way to relieve stress and steer clear of negativity. She makes sure to show her determined and caring personality by excelling in the classroom, while also being a supportive person to her friends and family. Photography will always be a large facet of her life, as she continues to use it as self expression and a way to maintain a positive and unique personality.
Rodriguez had been eyeing The Downey Newspaper for quite some time, and decided to join to help incorporate her passion for photography, “I love to express myself with photography by taking shots of anything that catches my eye,” Rodriguez said, “I’m excited to incorporate my work into The Downey Legend Newspaper.”
Tatiana Galindo, Photographer
Tatiana Galindo, 12, a first-year newspaper photographer, is excited to be a member of the Downey Legend crew and is ready to continue taking pictures and learning photographic skills, with a strong interest in film cameras. In addition to her love for photography, Galindo has aspirations of becoming a social worker. Galindo’s interests extend beyond the lens as she hopes to one day own a farm where she can raise a variety of animals, particularly pigs, her favorite. Galindo is a committed student aiming to graduate with gold cords, this year she hopes to be more involved in school activities. Aside from her academic and photographic interests, Galindo enjoys reading nonfiction books, baking, and playing with her three dogs.
"What I love the most about taking pictures is the idea of capturing a moment forever." Galindo wants to put her photography skills to the test and capture memorable moments.
