In grade five, Emily Rivas, 10, began making YouTube videos, which helped developed her interest in attending the Los Angeles Film School to become a director. “When I was little I looked up to a lot of directors, like Tim Burton,” Rivas said. “I really want to be a director, just [for] the fact that I can be incharge.”

During her freshman year at Downey High School, Lizzy Martinez, 12, originally wanted to become a lawyer but with the USC Summer Program, she found her passion for entrepreneurship and wants to have her own advertising company using her creativity. “I wanted to be in law,” Martinez said, “but then with business, I figured I could do whatever I want.”

With a fervor for cooking, Rita Magana, 12, hopes to develop her skills as a cook and follow in her brother's footsteps. ”If I work hard, my passion will show through my work and I will excel beyond my expectations," Magana said.
