The varsity girls’ soccer team faced a second loss at the Lakewood Lancers’ field on Thursday, Dec. 2. Though the girls won their first game against Santa Fe on Nov. 23 with a final score of 6-0, they also suffered two recent losses, one against Valley Christian and the other against the Lakewood; furthermore, both scores were 0-1.
“On the Santa Fe game, we played like we wanted it,” senior and forward Brandi Neilan said. “We were hungry to win.”
Despite the fact that the Vikings beat Lakewood last year, with the final score of 3-2, this game was back-and-forth. The only goal made by the Lancers was scored during the first half, and after that goal was attained, the Lady Vikings used the rest of their power to keep the opposing team from scoring again. Many goal attempts were made, and the closest chance the girls had in getting the ball in the net was the one corner kick delivered by Stephanie Juanillo, though the ball hit the top post and missed the entry to the goal.
“I think we need to be more positive and act more like a team,” junior and mid-fielder Sabrina Estrada said.
