The morning of October 7, 2023, a surprise attack was planned. Three thousand rockets launched from Hamas. The losses from the day of the attack to now are extensive. Approximately 800 Israelis and 500 Palestinians were killed. The attack took Israel by surprise, but the state quickly drew a plan on how to proceed. The day after the attack the Israeli cabinet formally declared war against Hamas. President Biden also made a statement that the US would send renewed shipments of arms as well as move the Mediterranean Sea warships closer to Israel. The UN Security Council has called an emergency meeting to discuss the violence and both members failed to attend. Gaza has been ordering its civilians to evacuate, due to the past brutality of Israel and Palestine extremist groups who have fought in the past. Internationalist groups have quickly expressed concerns for the safety of the civilians in Israel and the Palestine territories as well as those who are being held hostage by the militants in Gaza. Gaza has been running out of supplies such as water and fuel etc. Israel isn’t allowing any type of aid to be brought to Palestine, and now the conflict is spreading across borders.
