Thanks to Scholastic’s sponsorship, the very first Book Fair of the school year was held on the week of Dec. 13 after school from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
With various genres to choose from, students were able to purchase their favorite books in reduced prices. Scholastic presents a wide variety of books fit for all ages. From mystery to historical fiction, the Book Fair allowed the students to explore their favorite characters and genres. There were book packs like the Guardians of Ga’Hoole Pack and exclusive paperbacks that only Scholastic offers.
“Students often feel forced to read books, but Book Fairs give the students an opportunity to buy the books that they actually like. There were so many different books to choose from,” junior Imran Chowdhry said.
Not only did the Book Fair offer great novels, but it also had numerous activity books. Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Guinness World Records, and graphic novels provide a different kind of entertainment for the students. There were also helpful books like dictionaries.
“I like looking through the activity books. They’re very amusing and often have facts that you don’t hear everyday,” junior Jan Bautista said.
The Book Fair also offered posters for $4.50 and other accessories like bookmarks and erasers for $0.50. The purchases during the week of the Book Fair will benefit the school.
“The prices are in between, but there are definitely a lot of sales. There are also a lot of books that the students and parents can choose from,” the librarian Ms. Flores said.
During the Book Fair, parents, teachers, and students have visited. For every item that an individual bought, they were given a raffle ticket for a chance to win a Starbucks gift card.
