Freshmen Fiesta took place this past Friday! This tradition has been a way for freshmen to celebrate their first few weeks of high school. The fiesta consists of eating tacos with agua frescas and dancing with the rest of the Link Crew leaders. Afterward, leaders walk the freshmen to the football game (the first of the season this year).
Samuel Cano,12, states his favorite part of being a link crew leader:” I enjoy helping the freshman out and seeing them getting integrated into Downey High.”
Jayde Lua, 12, states her favorite part of being a part of Link Crew, “ I enjoy being a Link Crew leader,” Lua stated. “ I get to help out freshmen and meet new people.”
Being a part of Link Crew is to also help others, Christopher Armenta, 12, states his favorite of being a part of the program, “ I like being a part of Link Crew because you get to build connections with a variety of people
Link Crew leader and commissioner, Jacqueline Dominguez,12, states her favorite part of Link Crew: “ I love building the connections that come with Link Crew. Being in the commissioner class for the second time has opened up opportunities to meet new people with different stories, ” Dominguez stated. “I’ve built many strong relationships through this program and I am internally grateful for that and this amazing opportunity.”
Freshman Fiesta is one of the many events that Link Crew hosts. There are many more events for freshmen to look forward to in their freshman year.
