Sandra Echavarria, Photographer
As a first year photographer for The Downey Legend, Sandra Echavarria, 12, wants to expand her expertise and passion for photography. While Echavarria excels in photography, she wants to major in accounting with a minor of photography at one of the worlds most prestigious ivy league schools, Harvard. Other than being an overachiever scholar, Echavarria spends her time reading romance novels and going to work at an event center. She is very quiet, but very friendly at the same time if you take the time to get to know her. Echavarria will never fail to make you smile and will always make you feel welcomed and important.
“At first I was obsessed with capturing life in the moment,” Echavarria stated. “And I think overtime it became an outlet for me and that's why I pursued photography.”
Denisse Rodriguez, Photographer
Aspiring photographer, Denisse Rodriguez, 12, is an active volunteer at PIH Hospital and contributes to the Downey High Advance Sports Med team. Rodriguez enjoys taking pictures of her friends and the outdoors using the knowledge she gained of using a digital camera in photojournalism. Not only did she learn how to work the camera but she grew in her writing. Rodriguez, is an honest and friendly person who takes part in advanced courses and is looking to achieve an outstanding GPA to get into a good college to pursue her dream of becoming a physical therapist. Outside of school she enjoys going out, playing with her dog, and hanging out with friends. First-time member in the Downey Legend, Rodriguez, hopes to continue taking pictures around campus and sharing Downey pride.
“This year I want to to learn and to connect with the people in newspaper and use my photography skills to capture the moment,” Rodriguez said.
