Students thoughts on Downey v. Warren Game

Catherine Quinones, Writer

After facing a year of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Downey’s annual rivalry game sparks anticipation amongst our community. Regardless of what side you are rooting for, this event is definitely one for the books.

While the buildup to see this epic battle between both Downey and Warren ignites school pride from both schools, for some, this will be the last time they enjoy a game as a Viking. Senior, Isabella Peña expresses that “ It’s a bittersweet feeling because it’s our last exciting football game before college.” When asked who would win the game, Peña disclosed, “I think both teams are really good. Both have had a great season so far so we will see.”

On the other hand, Lianna Martinez, 10, is experiencing her first rivalry game. Martinez states, “I’m excited and looking forward to hanging out with friends to cheer for our football team.”

Keeping the positive Viking attitude present, Leslie Rios, 11, believes that “It’s going to be a close game this year. However, I am most looking forward to seeing the band perform because I have friends in band and know they have been working hard especially for this moment.”
