A current photographer this year for the Newspaper at Downey High School, Brisa Rodriguez, 12, is showing off her skills developed from her past two years in Photojournalism. Rodriguez has been apart of the Law Enforcement class for six years, and has been playing basketball for five years. She enjoys helping people, and can help more with her developed skills.

Rodriguez became interested in law enforcement unintentionally discovering her passion for it, “When I was a sophomore, I was accidentally placed into the Law Enforcement club. It was really interesting.” Although unsure of what career to pursue within law enforcement, Rodriguez plans to improve any and all skills needed to pursue her dream.

Carla Vente, Photographer

Varsity Lacrosse player Carla Vente, 12, ends her final year at Downey High as a photographer on The Downey Legend newspaper. Aspiring to pursue a career as a CSI Agent due to her interest in Chemistry and CSI shows, Vente aims to major in Criminal Justice at the University of Santa Barbara.

Vente has been a member of the Amigos Club for two years and has spent her lunch time hanging out with the special needs students on campus. She enjoys spending time with her friends and surrounding herself with people she cares about, “I tend to put others before myself,” Vente said, “I don’t know, I am just a caring person.”
