Marvel’s fictional comic book character, Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, also known as Deadpool, stars in a long awaited movie that came out on February 12.

Ryan Reynolds had previously played Deadpool in X-men Origins: Wolverine, back in 2009 but it was not a big role. Since 2004 Reynolds had wanted more for the character, trying to get the movie produced; he even went as far as being a producer for the movie.

Reynolds was granted 24 hours to shoot test footage for Deadpool so 20th Century Fox could decide if they wanted to produce it. Shortly after the footage was leaked online and gained positive feedback. After 20th Century Fox game Reynolds was giving the green light to shoot the film.

“I feel confident with Ryan Reynolds being the actor for him,” comic book fan, Jonathan Zaragoza,10, said. “I felt like Ryan Reynolds was the perfect person.”

Deadpool has gotten many good ratings such as an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 8.7/10 on IMDb. The fans, such as Angel Torres,12, have given nothing but positive feedback as well.

“It’s such a good movie; Ryan Reynolds was phenomenal,” Marvel fan, Angel Torres, said. “I even saw it a day earlier than intended because of the hype.”

The strong language and violence throughout the film has earned Deadpool an R rating. Even with the movie being rated R, it has not stopped fans from seeing it. To most, having a PG Deadpool would not be the same.

“It wouldn’t make sense if he didn’t cuss,” Ernie Huerta, 10, said. “The character is known for being very sexual and such in the comics. It wouldn’t be the same.”

Deadpool has already earned $300 million the opening weekend, breaking records. The following week is expected to get just as much.
