American pop singer, Selena Gomez released her new single “Come & Get It” from her self-titled debut album. Gomez broke awake from her four-piece band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, to pursue a solo music career. In comparison to Gomez’s previous music work associated with the Disney Channel network, her new track includes mid-tempo pop rhythms and classic Indian music melodies in the background. The song is about Gomez offering her love to a hesitant lover who is afraid to commit. The lyrics “This love will be the death of me/ But I know I’ll die happily/ I’ll know, I’ll know, I’ll know/ Because you love me so… yeah!” shows Gomez’s confidence in knowing the other person feels the same way. Music critics assumed the track was referenced to Gomez’ ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber. She assured them that the track was originally written for Rihanna’s Talk That Talk album, but it was rejected and was subsequently recorded by Gomez. The track itself serves as a preview into Gomez transition from an innocent Disney Channel star to a more mature, edgy artist. Jessica Fletcher from The Crime Reporter series stated, “Her breathy vocals are just what the song needed to fuse the Bollywood and electro-pop sound, and make it work.” Gomez hopes to release her full album by summer 2013.

Buenrostro also loves live music; she has been to various concerts including Young the Giant, Arctic Monkeys, and Walk the Moon. Buenrostro plans to graduate and attend an out of state school far from California. “As much as I love Downey High,” Buenrostro said, “I can’t wait to go to college in a new environment.” While away at college she hopes to major in biology and medicine to start her path towards her career goal of being a doctor.
