Alternative, indie- rock band, Imagine Dragons, released their lively single “It’s Time” in March of 2011. The track starts out with rhythmic vibes along with some banjo playing and lyrics that sum up the old cliche: Be proud of who you are. With Dan Reynolds on lead vocals, Ben McKee and Dan Platzman covering drums, and Wayne Sermon on guitar- the four finally made it past in the underground Battle of the Bands in Las Vegas into the music industry.
“I wrote it during a very hard time in my life. I had dropped out of college, and I was just sitting down at my computer, and I came up with this rhythm. I knew I had something special coming,” Reynolds told The Huffingtion Post.
Releasing an EP had sparked much curiosity as to why the successful group hadn’t taken the challenge of releasing a full length album.
“I really wanted to make sure I felt our band had really developed and understood who we are before releasing a first album,” Reynolds also added.
The track gained much popularity when indie movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower featured it in the film.
“It’s unreal and exciting to see ourselves on lineups with bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, and the Black Keys,” Sermon tells bromygod.com.
Touring mainly on the West Coast last May, Imagine Dragons are now working on their first album.
